Essay on Cause and effect of diabetes

To start with, it should be noted that diabetes has become a serious problem all over the world, especially in developed countries. Diabetes is a disease of the endocrine system, accompanied by a chronic increase in blood glucose levels caused by absolute or relative deficiency of insulin. Diabetes represents the condition when carbohydrate metabolism, protein and fat are disturbed. Number of patients with diabetes is growing, especially in developed countries. It is believed that diabetes sick are from 2 to 10% of the population, depending on country of residence, according to Causes of diabetes.

Diabetes occurs when there is a chronic insufficiency of insulin.

Insulin is a hormone that is produced in the endocrine islets of the pancreas, called islets of Langerhans. Pancreatic hormone, insulin, is involved in carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism in the body. On carbohydrate metabolism influences insulin, increasing intake of glucose in body cells, activating the alternative routes of synthesis of glucose in the body, increasing the reserves of carbohydrates in the liver by the synthesis of carbohydrate compounds – glycogen. At the same time hinders the process of decomposition of carbohydrates, as described in ABC of diabetes.

Effect of insulin on protein metabolism is to increase the synthesis of proteins, nucleic acids, suppression of protein breakdown. Insulin increases the supply of glucose in fat cells, fat-containing synthesis agents, activates the processes of energy cell and inhibits fat breakdown. Under the action of insulin, there is an increased intake of sodium into the cell.

All in all, there are many causes of diabetes, which include depression, obesity, bad habits, unhealthy food, stress, etc.
