Essays on Peacekeeping job

One of the main advantages of the work of peacekeeping is its positive impact on the conflict resolution. Peacekeeping helps people to start negotiating and to stop war (Wall and Druckman, 702). In fact, peacekeeping is probably one of the most efficient ways to stop military conflicts because peacekeeping forces have the special status, which prevents them from open military attacks from the part of opposing parties in war. In such a way, peacekeeping forces help opposing parties to put the end to military actions and to start negotiations. Therefore, peacekeepers help people in war to reconsider their actions and to find peaceful solutions to their problems and conflicts. Obviously, negotiations are crucial for the successful resolution of military conflicts and, if peacekeepers can help opposing parties to start negotiations, their work may be considered successful.

In such a way, it is obvious that peacekeeping is challenging but highly beneficial job. What is meant here is the fact that peacekeepers should possess diverse professional skills and abilities. In fact, they can be successful in different fields and they should have in-depth knowledge in ts In such a way, peacekeeping is difficult (Segal, 130). However, peacekeeping is difficult not only in terms of professional development, skills and abilities but also in terms of the development of their positive relationships with parties involved in military conflict. In fact, peacekeepers should focus on the creation of conditions favorable for the development of positive relationships and prevention of military conflicts. In such a way, peacekeepers’ work depends on the environment and development of military conflicts. Therefore, peacekeepers should be able to take control over the situation in regions of military conflicts and help opposing parties to start negotiations.

In actuality, peacekeeping is essential to keep the world stable and to maintain democracy, human rights and liberties in the world. In fact, peacekeepers should be conscious of basic human rights and liberties, respect these rights and liberties and be able to make other people to respect basic human rights and liberties. In such a way, along with peace, they should also bring educational services to the local population and help people to learn basic democratic norms and values on the ground of which the maintenance of stable peace is possible. In such a way, peacekeepers should be able to inform the public about basic democratic values and turn them to these values on the ground of which they can start negotiations. At the same time, democratic values are fundamental for peacekeeping and for the maintenance of peace because they create the foundation on the ground of which opposing parties can launch negotiations and come to agreement to stop the war. In addition, democratic values brought by peacekeepers can help people to learn to solve their conflicts in the civil, peaceful way.

Obviously, peacekeeping is difficult but contributes to the development of diverse skills, such as communication, organizational, negotiation skills and many others, which make a peacekeeper progressing not only professionally but also personally (Bercovitch and Jackson, 62). What is meant here is the fact that, in order to perform professional duties well, peacekeepers should develop multiple skills and abilities. In this regard, communication, organizational, negotiation skills are just a few to mention. These skills are essential for the professional work of peacekeepers. At the same time, these skills are beneficial for peacekeepers in their personal life as well. To put it more precisely, they can use communication skills in their personal life to develop positive interpersonal relationships with different people, whereas organizational skills can help individuals to make their life better and well-organized (Ramsbotham and Woodhouse, 198). In such a way, professional skills facilitate the personal life of peacekeepers and help them to develop positive interpersonal relationships.

Thus, taking into account all above mentioned, it is important to place emphasis on the fact that the work of a peacekeeper is my dream job but I cannot do this job at the moment. Nevertheless, I sincerely believe that once I would be able to perform the job of a peacekeeper, which I have been dreaming of since my childhood. In fact, I cannot stand sufferings of people in war. When I see people in areas of military conflicts, I grew conscious of the importance of the job of peacekeepers. People cannot live in war but often they lack mechanisms of their prevention. In such a situation, peacekeepers can help opposing parties to solve their problems and to help them to start negotiations. In such a way, I believe that I would able to help people to stop military conflicts through my peacekeeping work. In addition, I would develop professional skills and abilities can be helpful in the development of my personal skills.
