Essay on A public sector organisation

As an example of the local public sector organization that represents the interest of general public I would like to suggest the local council, for instance, the local council of the City of London. The purpose of this organization is to provide the satisfying quality of the urban planning, and manage all social and other services in the local area.

It’s especially important to manage the proper functioning of the City of Loon, as this area is the largest provider of financial service in the UK and its impact is vital for our economy. Therefore the major task for the local council is to support the finance industry and to maintain the satisfying environment.

The range of services provided by the local council includes necessary infrastructure maintenance, and economic and social development. Besides it the local council of the City of London represents the interests of the City.

1. A local charity

Emmaus UK is a local charity that concentrates its efforts on finding home for the homeless. This charity has two departments in London South Lambeth and Greennwich.

The purpose of this organization to obtain donations of good quality furniture and household goods which are subsequently sold in this charity shops.

2. A large private sector business

As for the large private sector business organisation, I would like to suggest a local Tesco. Tesco is a huge retailer that specializes both in grocery and in general retailing. It is UK-based organization which has gained an international success.

Its major purpose is to obtain the maximum profits and to ensure that the consumer’s demand is satisfied. It operates both on the local, national and global scales.

3. A small private sector business.

In regards to the small private sector business, I would like to discuss a small book shop “My Back Pages” in Balham. It’s a second hand book shop that sells mostly cheap classics, politics and psychology. The major purpose of this small private business is to gain the profit and also to ensure its customers feel themselves comfortable in the shop.

Task 2 . Describe how each of these organisations is owned and link your descriptions to the size and scale of each organisation. In other words, describe whether they are small, medium or large organisations and whether they operate locally, regionally, nationally, across Europe or throughout the world. Your descriptions of ownership, size and scale can be given in the form of a table, to be included in the body of your magazine article.

The local council, as a common example of the public sector organization, is publicly owned. It’s rather a large-scale organization with the departments in the various boroughs. This specific local council operates on the local scale, but in general it has a national presence.

The local charity Emmaus UK is privately owned and is managed by its president and patrons. There are a few well known names among them, such as The Duchess of Cornwall. It’s a medium size organization and it operates on the national level.

As the large private sector business organisation, Tesco is privately owned. It’s the largest of the all of organization discussed in this paper. It operates on the local, national and international levels.

And finally a small book shop is the smallest among the organisations that was covered here. It is also privately owned and it operates only on the local level.
