Essay on A dialogue scene

In the current essay I will describe two characters and a dialogue scene between these two high school students. My characters are two boys- they have been friends for a long time. They are discussing their future and they are thinking which University to choose and where they would like to work. The names of the boys are Jack and John.
Jack is interested what John is up to, and what he is planning.

Jack: Hi John, how are you?

John: I’m ok, thanks, and you?

Jack: I’m ok, too, but rather confused.

John: About what? Why?

Jack: Well, I had a conversation with my parents and we were discussing my future….

John: So what? What happened?

Jack: We were talking a lot about the possibilities I have and about what my parents want me to do in future. They were talking a lot about the things that are complicated nowadays and that I do not have much choice.

John: Why did they say that? Did they give you an advice?

Jack: Yes, they did. They told me that they wanted to see me as a dentist in future…

John: The same job as they have? But do you like that?

Jack: I don’t like this idea at all…I’m shocked…

John: Wow, things got complicated for you…I’m very sorry…

Jack: Thanks. Are you in the same situation or you can choose you future profession?

John: Well, I guess I can…I have talked to my parents recently and they told me to choose the place where I would like to work…I felt so much freedom and I got excited. You know, when you can decide for yourself and then not to blame anyone? Like my mother said “You choose and you live your way. No one to blame here. Your decision is an adult decision and we will support you in any case.”

Jack: That’s great! Congratulations! I wish my parents were this way!! I don’t know what to do, how to convince them to let me decide what I want to do and what I can do. I think that I will not be a good dentist anyway, because I’m not that kind of a person who is devoted to such type of job.

John: Well, in your case it’s rather complicated because parents know life better and the sphere they are offering to you is perspective for sure. They want you to be successful and perspective, they will be able to help you, to explain a lot and to support you in tough times.

Jack: I know they have good intentions, but I am also afraid I won’t be happy and successful being a dentist, because I feel that I will not be able to overcome my fears and my discomfort.

John: I think you should talk to your parents and describe all feelings you have. I think they will understand what is happening to you. The most important it to talk about that.

Jack: Yes, thanks, I hope that I will be able to convince them that I want to choose my future profession, as I know myself better as it seems to me. Thanks for your support!

John: You are welcome, I wish you good luck in the conversation with your parents, try to explain them what you want, I hope they will understand you. Bye!

Jack: Thanks, see you soon!
