It is paradoxically, but it is the fact that many people know about the history of their country and about human history in general from different art books and films. Recently, I found an amazing thing – the writers do not bother with the historical realities, the history of any country is only a part of decorations for fiction in their eyes… This question made me interested in this problem and involved me in a big adventure.

I’m a well-educated person, but my friends said that I am not enough rich to be such wise and confident. Thus, I’m not an ordinary man, but I’m a person who is interested in own historical roots. Being honest, my parents were Russian and I was born in Russia 35 years ago. I was really waiting for the moment to receive my grandmother’s letter with invitation to visit my historical homeland, but in the day of my final arrival to Russia I received very sad news about my grandmother’s death. It was a big grief for me, but she was an old lady and it was normal to die in her age.

Thus, I found myself in Russia, the place that I have never been before. Everything around me was strange and unreal, people were talking in a strange and fast language, but they were always smiling and happy. I was in some strange, but beautiful village, where people never saw Afro-American person (a person with black skin) and little children were even trying to touch me in a hidden way.

The main problem was to find documents, which could help me to create my genealogical tree, but it was really hard. People around me never heard English speech and only English teacher tried to help me. I was faced to different bureaucratic procedures and nobody wanted to believe that I was a real grandson of the old lady who died recently. It was so hard, but interesting at the same time to overcome so much difficulties in my way to the creation of family tree. Finally, I found all necessary documents about my far relatives, and I was ready to continue my searchers.

To sum up, I have visited new country, found necessary documents and understood that Russia is a wonderful country, but its traditions and language are strange for me as for representative of other culture. It was also a historical trip, because it gave me an opportunity to experience that sometimes books and films show the real life and it is sometimes useful to find right literature about the places of interest.
